Jun 19, 2011 If you mean the folder /Users/Shared, that's not a user. It's for files shared by all users. Hi I just noticed this with my mac with the shared user in finder. Make sure all users have disconnected from the file server, clicking the eject button next to the server name in the sidebar of the Finder on their Macs. On the Mac sharing files, open the Sharing. Files in a user’s Public folder or in the Shared folder can be read by all users of the Mac, but edited or deleted by only the owner of the file. Find Users Folder On Mac
Following several guides, I've made the folder rw for the 'staff' group that all users are apparently automatically part of. However, any files created in here have only read access for the staff group. I've already set 'umask 0002' in the terminal, but there seems to be no effect.
Any advise appreciated. I'm from a Windows background, incidentally.
